Water and Wastewater
Wastewater & Redundant Water Meetings are scheduled on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month at 1:30pm in the Elizabethtown Boardroom.
Elizabethtown does not currently have municipal wastewater treatment. In partnership with other organizations, the Town is currently seeking funding for the Elizabethtown Wastewater Capital Project.
- There is ongoing pollution of our waterways with direct ties to private septic systems throughout the hamlet, many of which cannot be upgraded or repaired to modern standards. We feel a deep responsibility to protect the beautiful clean rivers that cross through our town and contribute to making Elizabethtown a great place to live.
- Our businesses and institutions need municipal wastewater treatment to grow and even, in some cases, just to stay open. Municipal wastewater would also open the door to water-intensive businesses that we currently cannot have, like a car wash or laundromat.
- Finally, to keep our residences habitable, safe, and healthy, they need reliable and code-compliant wastewater treatment solutions.
