Elizabethtown Social Center Open House!
You're Invited: Open House at the Elizabethtown Social Center!5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Let's celebrate together! We've nearly doubled our community programs in the last year - and our free afterschool Teen Rec program enrolls over 85% of local teens. There's more we want to do — and we want your help shaping it and sustaining it. Come share your ideas, meet our team, and help build the community you want to live in. Enjoy Mocktails, appetizers from Pleasant Valley Cafe & Irma's Tamales, live music from Two Of A Kind Duo, and a silent auction — plus crafts and games for our younger guests. 5:30p Short Presentation6:30p Listening Session - Talk to us about what you want to see at the Center! Meet our Executive Director, Board Members, staff. and the donors who helped us complete our recent major energy upgrade (Stewart's, Hometown Electric, George and Shirley Moore Foundation and the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA). Hear from teens about what the Social Center means to them. Tour our upgraded facilities! Resources like the Social Center are rare in rural communities. Family Farm Visit to Sand River Community Farm
Sand River is a small farm striving to feed its neighbors. Let's come together and see what grows there! We will garden, eat, and sing with some of the helpful humans, cows, and sheep who love this place. Families will pick food, prepare and eat a farm dinner! Although the visit is geared towards kids and teens, adults will enjoy learning about this unique community farm run by volunteers. There will be activities for young kids to get their wiggles out, learn, and reflect. The visit is free but PLEASE RSVP on our event page at https://www.elizabethtownsocialcenter.org/event-details-registration/free-visit-to-sand-river-community-farm-3 (so we know when we reach a minimum size to host the trip.) WE WILL MEET AT THE FARM at 2:00pm. Dinner is served around 5:30pm (healthy snacks included in between!). Located at 1044 Mace Chasm Road just outside of Keeseville, NY. 30 minute drive from Elizabethtown. Outdoor Community Soccer
A group dedicated to fostering a healthy lifestyle and building community through the game of soccer in Elizabethtown, NY. Come join a fun community group who just love playing soccer. Haven't played in a decade? Currently playing on your college team? Just need to get out of the house and move your body? Looking for a greater sense of community? YOU have found the right group! We are lucky enough to use the local Town-owned soccer field on Noble Terrace. Elizabethtown Adult Soccer Guidelines: We are happy to be an inclusive group of individuals looking to have FUN, exercise, and meet people in our area. We don't even keep score! We are a CO-ED group that gathers each week. Therefore, the crew is always changing and evolving. We DO NOT tolerate discrimination, excessive profanities, negative behavior toward others, or any actions that are hurtful to any other players. If such behavior is occurring, you will be asked NOT to play. We encourage you to join us from anywhere (not just etown/Lewis/Westport) if you live here full time, part time, or just visiting for a week. Please join us if you play for your school team, have NEVER played, haven't played in 25 years, or play in a summer league already. A lot of us are parents, and our children play in the areas around the field. Sometimes we can even get them to be our "ball kids," shagging the strays we kick a bit too far. Also, NYS laws apply to all of us, use your basic common sense please. Remember, the size of the field depends on how many players show each day. We aren’t playing on a regulation field unless we have enough people. Hope to see you on the field for the best season yet!
