Arts & Culture
Elizabethtown revels in history - whether it's classical music in our historic district, the highly regarded Adirondack History Museum, or the charming red brick buildings that make up the Essex County Seat.
Local restaurants and a community center host live, local and regional jazz, classical, country, and bluegrass bands year round for free or at affordable prices. Youth frequently find creative enrichment events - cooking, crafts, children's opera, circus arts and more. The local library hosts educational and arts workshops, and a summer farmer's market offers local produce, live music and lunches from local vendors.
Three quarters of the local teens are enrolled in a free, afterschool program that offers daily free-play, musical field trips, and outdoor recreation activities. A culture of outdoor activity encourages a massive trail system for mountain bikers, skiers and a unique camaraderie among athletes. Annual festivals like E'town day brings the town together.
